Submission Criteria
During the application process, you will need the following information:
- Number of students at your school
- Number of students in district
- Number of staff at school
- Number of school counselors
- Percentage of special education students
- Percentage of students on free or reduced lunch
- Percentage of students who are Asian, Black, Hispanic, Native America, White, and Other

- Your resume as Word document or PDF
- Must include name, current position, school name, years at current school, education, professional experience, leadership experience, memberships, awards/certifications/publications
- Three letters or recommendation, including one from an immediate or direct school or district supervisor (maximum of two pages each ). Only three letters of recommendation will be scored even if more than three are submitted.
- Video (required for National award, optional for state award)
- Each applicant must submit a 3-5 minute video that showcases the applicant, the school, and the school counseling program. Be creative. Make sure we can hear and see you clearly. Be sure to comply with school/district policies regarding taping of students prior to filming. It is required that the applicant appear in at least part of the video. If the video is longer than five minutes only the first five minutes of the video will be reviewed.
Recommended video file is an upload to a public YouTube page, where you will insert the link directly into the application. Other accepted video file formats are .wmv, .mov, .mp4, and .flv. Recommended video resolution is 640 x 480 or 640 x 360 (wide screen). If attaching a file and not inserting a web link (url), please ensure your video file size is less than 250MB to ensure the upload process goes smoothly.

Application questions you should be prepared to answer:
- Give examples of ways you have advocated for the profession throughout your career based on the ASCA School Counselor Professional Standards and Competencies.
- What was one of your annual student outcome goals last year?
- Give an example of a particularly effective collaborative effort you spearheaded with a key population (administrators, faculty, parents and/or the community).
- What types of professional development or leadership opportunities have you participated in throughout your career, and how was this impacted your practice or how it has changed your school environment?
- What do you do to ensure your school’s comprehensive school counseling program promotes access and belonging and/or impacts systemic change?
